JRD Printpack is a commercial printer that has diversified into flexible packaging and more recently in the carton segment. Nearly 10 to 15 percent of the company’s product mix now comprises cartons. The company’s main customers are the telecom, electronic and automobile industries, while cartons are primarily supplied to food manufacturers.

In a joint statement, JRD Printpack managing director Janhavi Rasiklal Dhariwal and director Amit Dhariwal said: ‘With a vision to accommodate the amendments for clients we went ahead with ArtiosCAD, DeskPack and Studio designer 3D to accelerate the savings, reliability as well as the flexibility in the production workflow.’

ArtiosCAD is the popular structural design software for packaging, and Amit Dhariwal believes it can meet the demands of both cartons and commercial printing. Similarly, DeskPack offers pre-press functions such as the addition of barcodes, trapping and imposition. Using quality control filters it can inspect and pre-flight files before they imaged on a plate and save costly errors on the press.

Esko’s Studio Designer 3D software turns ideas into 3D images and is useful for both pre-press operators and packaging designers. It is used to check and eliminate costly mistakes before making printing plates, embossing dies or spot varnish blankets.

‘With Esko’s tools our intention is to convey that we have something unique, which will help us in providing better services compared to what customers are getting in the market,’ ,’ said Janhavi Rasiklal Dhariwal. ‘We also want to aid our customers as a packaging design company as well as a converter. With Esko’s software, we have the edge to target brand owners without errors.’
