Rako installs Digicon 3000
Edale and AB Graphics have installed a Digicon 3000 at Germany’s Rako Group, which follows closely on from its investment in an HP Indigo 20000 digital press.

Rako is one of the largest manufactures of self-adhesive labels and flexible packaging in Europe, Asia and South Africa, with over 80 printing machines at 13 different sites worldwide. It offers a wide range of printing processes and in addition a variety of finishing possibilities.
The Digicon 3000 is a 30in finishing system for pre-printed labels and flexible packaging, and is designed to run in-line with the HP Indigo 20000 digital press, or as an offline converting system. It is a joint venture by Edale and AB Graphic, which was initiated by the growing demand for digital print options as the requirements for shorter run lengths, reduced lead times and growing SKU diversity in labels and flexible packaging has increased. Innovative Labeling Solutions in the US, another HP Indigo 20000 early adopter, has already installed a Digicon 3000. The Digicon 3000 installed at Rako Group will be used mainly for converting labels at its headquarters in Witzhave, Germany.
Roger Gehrke, Rako Group’s digital print manager, said: ‘The array of options including laminating, foiling, vanishing and printing with different technologies (water, solvent and UV), bring a huge amount of value to our narrow web equipment. The whole concept of the machine is well designed so we can expect a lot in terms of availability, accuracy and productivity.
‘All parties involved did a great job with the install and we are looking forward to further strengthening the relationship between companies.’
