Watershed Group signs deal for Vivo Colour Solutions

At Labelexpo Europe 2019, Watershed Group signed a license for Flint Group’s Vivo Colour Solutions, a web-based system that can feed ink formulations directly to ink dispensing equipment.

Vivo Colour Solutions became commercially available to Flint Group Narrow Web customers in early 2019. The system is a database of colors and mixing recipes for any combination of ink type, and is designed to increase the converter’s color accuracy and reduce press downtime and substrate waste. Since its launch, Vivo Colour Solutions has been expanded to include 180,000 ink formulations and pantone references.

Vivo Colour Solutions will translate all type of color targets and will work with multiple print methods and substrates.

Label and packaging converters can enter the color target for their print jobs into the Vivo system and select ink type, printing method and print media, and the system sends a recipe on how to mix the right ink.

On average, label converters spend 2.5 hours a day trying to create new ink formulations, Flint Group said. Further, brands are increasingly concerned with color management, and Vivo Colour Solutions addresses both of these issues.

Liz Waters, CEO of the Watershed Group, which is based in Ireland with facilities in Poland and Germany, signed the agreement at Labelexpo Europe 2019, but had been testing the system for about two months before the show. Waters said the company had already realized significant efficiencies in its production.

‘Anyone in our industry knows there are two significant costs. One is paper and the other is time,’ Waters said. ‘A lot of us put a lot of effort into figuring out how we can get ahead with the latter. Vivo Colour Solutions makes us so much more time-efficient.’
