Weightron invests in two Rotocon Ecoline machines

Weightron, a Southern-African provider of labeling services and industrial weighing equipment, has invested in two Ecolinefrom Rotocon: an RSI 340 slitter rewinder and an RFP 340 8-colour LED flexo press.

L-R: Patrick Aengenvoort (director and co-founder of Rotocon), Ram Sewpersadh (co-owner of Weightron), Ashay Sewpersadh (co-owner of Weightron), Sachin Sukhlal (service technician at Rotocon), Lance Pinto (production manager at Weightron) and Kishore Sewpersadh (co-owner of Weightron).

The Ecoline RSI 340 slitter rewinder is a fully servo-driven machine featuring three servo motors, 300m/min output, an intuitive control panel, and an open machine design. The device was installed by the Rotocon team at the end of November and has been in full production for film finishing since.

‘It was Rotocon’s reputation in the market that made our decision to invest in its Ecoline machines easy. The RSI has exceeded our exceptions - our team is especially impressed by the efficiency and production speed of the rewinder,’ commented Ashay Sewpersadh, co-owner of Weightron.

The RFP 340 8-colour LED flexo press uses the latest Yaskawa servo drive and control system. Each printing unit is driven by a separate servo motor - 14 in total. The printing units are designed for optimal ink transfer and pressure adjustment for crisp printing in high line counts text, linework, solids, adhesives and varnishes.

The LED-UV curing system ensures an improved energy footprint across the short web path, and the impression cylinder is equipped with a water chiller system so that the filmic material won’t be affected by the UV curing temperatures during printing. Installation of the flexo press will be provided by the Rotocon service team shortly.

‘Weightron and Rotoconare two family-run businesses and are happy to engage in a long-term partnership,’ concluded Patrick Aengenvoort, director and co-founder of Rotocon.
