Last week, at Labelexpo Asia 2005 in Shanghai, the organizers announced the launch of the Label Summit South China and the Smart Label Summit South China, to take place together in December 2006 in Guangzhou.

The Pearl River Delta in South China is regarded as the one of the world’s fastest growing print centers. Guangdong province alone has approximately 15,000 printing-related enterprises, employing almost 500,000 people. The production value of Guangdong’s printing industry accounts for 20 per cent of China’s overall printing industry – a figure set to grow following a government commitment to develop Guangdong as an international printing center. In addition, Guangdong was the first area in China to develop a market-orientated culture and still leads in terms of GDP and foreign exports – with 11.69 per cent of China’s GDP generated in Guangdong, as well as 33 per cent of all its imports and exports.

Label Summit South China and Smart Label Summit South China will attract Chinese and international expert speakers, covering all the hot issues facing the label industry today - with a special focus on education and practical business advice - including debate regarding international investment in China and smart label technology. 850 senior delegates, attracted by a tailored conference program, are expected to attend.

In addition to the two-stream conference there will be a large exhibition, encompassing a ‘Label Zone’ and a ‘Smart Label Zone’, packed full with 75 of the leading Chinese and international suppliers – including Colour Ribbons, Omet, Stanford Products, Rotoflex, Raflatac, Rafsec, Nilpeter, Martin Automatic and Mark Andy who have already confirmed their presence at the show.

Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘South China is one of the main hubs for the Chinese label industry and we are very pleased to be taking our Label Summit and Smart Label Summit to Guangzhou. This event will be the first time that a Label Summit and Smart Label Summit will be combined - making the event double the size of any other in the series.  Especially following the huge success of Labelexpo Asia last week, we are convinced that holding an event in South China in 2006 is the right step for both the international and Chinese labels industry. We are keen to continue to help the industry grow, as we have done elsewhere in the world, and are very excited to be working with all of our Chinese partners going forwards.’
