MPS and Green Bay Packaging to open demo and applications technology center

MPS Systems North America and Green Bay Packaging Coated Products have opened a joint demo and applications technology center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

A 17in, 10-color MPS EF multi-substrate flexo press equipped with UV LED, hot air dryers and a large number of different converting options will be installed at the facility

The technology center, to open on September 1, is a separate building on the Green Bay Packaging campus, and will feature a 17in, 10-color MPS EF multi-substrate flexo press equipped with UV LED, hot air dryers and a large number of different converting options.

The Coated Products operation of Green Bay Packaging is a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive paper and films for a variety of labeling applications, including primary package decoration and variable information. Headquartered in Green Bay,  Coated Products has three coating facilities located in Green Bay; Winchester, Virginia; and Mexico City, Mexico. In addition, material is slit and distributed from four other locations in the US, two in Canada and two in Mexico.

Marty Olson, Green Bay Packaging senior vice president, said: ‘Having a state-of-the-art flexographic press available for print testing will be a tremendous addition to our product development efforts. In addition, offering visiting customers the opportunity to see our material converting capabilities will enhance tours of our facilities.’

The new demo and applications technology center is part of the local organization of MPS in North America, which includes local press manufacturing, technical consultancy, sales and marketing. MPS Systems North America has established local service offerings that include spare parts programs and US-based technical assistance.

Kees Nijenhuis, vice president of MPS Systems North America, said: ‘In our new technology center, we are going to show our potential customers something special, that is why we have decided to install a 10-color, 17in-wide EF press with all the bells and whistles.

‘The EF is our automated multi-substrate press and future proof press platform. In our technology center we are going to show our potential customers what is possible when we push the limits when it comes to productivity, flexo print quality and flexible converting.’
