Müller Martini to host variable offset package printing seminar

- Flexo and rotogravure are established processes in package printing field, but are now being supplemented by stepless, variable size web offset printing because of the extra opportunities it offers
- Seminar to be staged in both German and English across two days in November
Müller Martini is to host a package printing seminar in Maulburg, Germany, looking at ways to use web offset to boost productivity.
The theme of the event is “Using the Advantages of Web Offset to Boost Your Company’s Strengths”, and will be held in German language on November 20 and in English the following day.
Müller Martini says that unlike other sectors in the graphic arts industry, order volumes in package printing are currently good because the consumer sector has shown itself to be relatively stable.
Market sources suggest the worldwide turnover of the packaging industry will grow from US$670 billion in 2010 to US$820 billion by 2016, and is the reason that more companies are printing flexible packaging, labels and cartons.
Flexo and rotogravure are the established processes in this field, but they are now being supplemented by stepless, variable size web offset printing because of the extra opportunities it offers.
Müller Martini sees itself as market leader for web printing presses in package printing, and the seminar will explore the varied applications presented by standardized offset printing in this field.
Key topics will include: data handling and printing plate manufacture in offset printing; inking systems; substrates; and the use of stepless variable size web offset technology, with demonstrations on a VSOP machine.
