For MotionCoat, Actega has partnered with Haney PRC to create unique designs and lenticular patterns. When printed using the last two ink stations, the coating appears to give the label a motion effect. Haney developed the designs and Actega the coating.

‘Our customers are all trying to up their game with their label,’ said Actega spokesman Chris Calomino. ‘They’re looking for those attention-grabbing details. Customers are looking for that edge.’

MotionCoat was released for the sheet fed packaging community earlier this year, but was unveiled to the flexographic printing market at Labelexpo.

Also in Actega’s booth 335, the company is highlighting ActDigi, digital primers that work with in-line priming units for narrow web digital presses. The primers are designed to extend the life of printing components and digital press consumables, primarily the HP Indigo line.

Customers are also looking for new ways to customize their labels, Calomino said. There has been a lot of interest in dry erase coatings, glitter, fluorescent and tactile finishes.
