Alpha Converting launches new rewinder for films and more
- Available with numerous levels of automation, from semi-automatic versions with manual core loading and removal of finished rolls to full automation

- Also offering new generation of AlphaTrim trim winders

Alpha Converting Equipment has launched AlphaMatic Turret, the latest edition to its family of automatic rewinders designed for short-run work involving laminated films and other substrates.

The rewinder runs two or three inch cores and is rated at a speed of 300m/min with a typical cycle time of only 20 seconds for a 50m roll.

It is available with numerous levels of automation, from semi-automatic versions with manual core loading and removal of finished rolls to full automation.

Interest has been reported from markets with applications using a broad spectrum of substrates.

Two orders have already been secured, with the first unit being delivered to a German customer.

Peter Stokley, sales manager at Alpha Converting, said: ‘The AlphaMatic Turret provides a highly efficient and flexible solution for short-run work.

‘It is designed for single person operation – once the unwind reel is loaded into the machine, all operations are automatic.

‘It runs to the length set by the operator, loads fresh cores, strips the roll from the
rewind shaft and is delivered to a roll closing system with ID labeling and bar coding.

‘The finished roll is delivered to a storage table outside the perimeter of the machine guard, where the operator can pack as required.’

As standard, the winder is supplied with an adhesive-less start (cinching) system. ‘This is particularly useful for the many applications where adhesive might cause contamination on the next process,’ added Stokley.

Alpha Converting is also offering a new generation of its AlphaTrim trim winders, featuring a coreless version with collapsible shafts to ensure only 100 percent trim is sent for recycling.

Stokley said: ‘Up to two trims can be wound on one unit – and at speeds of up to 600m/min, the trim winder can easily handle most flexible packaging operations.

‘As the trim is spool wound, run length times are optimised, allowing many kilometres of narrow width trim to be rewound before unloading.

‘It is extremely flexible and can be installed on virtually any slitter rewinder. Non-stop options are also available for handling trims produced on extrusion film lines.’
