Ohio, US-based Braden Sutphin Ink has launched two new water-based coatings for paper and board packaging that are compliant with FDA direct food contact regulations.

Braden Sutphin said the coatings offer grease and moisture resistance, are biodegradable, compostable and recyclable, and freeze/thaw resistant.

The company said the Seal Coat product offers low VOC levels and produces little-to-no odor, while Release Coat allows the release of baked foods in temperatures of up to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).

The coatings can be used with flexo, gravure and litho with an in-line aqueous coating unit, as well as off-line coating equipment.
