Chemque launches manufacturing line with mercury-free resins

Chemque, Inc. has launched a compact manufacturing line with an advanced vision system that dispenses resins, transports and instantly cures parts using only one operator. The company has also started to manufacture 1-component, mercury free, instant cure resins for doming, molding and chromed emblem backfilling applications.

The new Q-Plant is a compact and versatile manufacturing line that can be used for a variety of applications, including doming, molding and backfilling of chromed 3D emblems. The manufacturing line is equipped with an advanced vision system that increases productivity by precisely locating the parts to be domed. An XYZ-motion dispenser, a UV curing tunnel, a conveyor belt system and two lift elevators are the other major components of the Q-Plant.

With an innovative formulation, the new E-Dome 1-component, mercury free resins will instantly cure after passing through a UV curing tunnel for a few seconds. Contrary to traditional 2-component resins, no mixing is required with the E-Dome 1K resins, so there is no risk of striations being formed. E-Dome 1K resins do not even need to be purged, which eliminates waste of resin and the need of solvent flushing altogether. 

‘Q-Plant and E-Dome solve a number of low productivity issues that the doming, molding and chromed emblem industries have been dealing with for over 20 years,’ said Sam Ghaly, Chemque’s president. ‘These new technologies allow our customers to be versatile and responsive in the very competitive environment they have to operate on a daily basis,’ added Ghaly.
