A double addition to the face paper selection from UPM
The sextet of UPM’s label face papers has now grown into an octet: UPM is complementing their selection with two new grades. The uncoated, surface-sized UPM Vellum and UPM Jetlabel make the selection one of the most diverse on the market.
‘A suitable paper can now be found for most of the conceivable end uses of self-adhesive labels: there are the high-end grades for the demanding products of the cosmetics industry but also the very practical standard products for the needs of traditional industry,’ said technical customer service engineer Arttu Keskinen.
The enhanced selection of eight face paper grades also covers all printing methods from flexographic and offset printing to gravure printing.
UPM Vellum is produced at the Nordland mill in Germany; the Jetlabel at the Kymi mill in Finland. ‘The added capacity provided by these two mills also means better opportunities to continue expanding our selection; in other words, more possibilities and room to maneuver in our research and development work,’ Keskinen pointed out.
UPM Jetlabel is a grade tailored from envelope paper to the label end use. The surface properties of the paper have been developed so that they endure the adhesives better. ‘An example of a possible end use area would be luggage tags. Thanks to the whiteness of Jetlabel, the information is very clearly visible on the tags,’ Keskinen explained.
Vellum, for its part, is a material generally used by industry for logistics labeling. ‘Both new grades are standard products, the demand for which on the markets is on the rise,’ said Keskinen.
