Epson marks worldwide launch of L-6034VW
Epson has launched the SurePress L-6034VW digital press, the company’s first single-pass industrial print system, and the first to use Epson’s PrecisionCore linehead technology.

In another first, the press uses Epson’s low migration LED UV curing ink, with an additional curing station provided for an arc lamp for applications which require it. The L-6034VW has integrated White and digital varnishing stations, along with corona treater, allowing true single pass digital label and coating to be achieved, including on transparent films and metallic substrates.
The press has a compact footprint, made possible by a ‘wheel’ design for the web path which holds the substrate securely on the drum - similar to a CI drum press - and reduces the space required by the print heads. The compact LED curing unit also helps save space, as well as making it possible to print heat-sensitive films without chill rollers.
The integrated varnish unit can apply variable spot matte or gloss coats, and can be used to take down the ‘shiny-ness’ and tactility inherent in the UV cured ink process. The White station can be used in either surface or reverse-print mode.
The SurePress L-6034VW supports rolls from 3.15 to 13-inches wide up to 0.013-inches (0.32 mm) thick and runs at speeds up to 49.2 feet per minute (15m/min).
Epson was stressing its coverage of all parts the digital spectrum. For the ‘entry level’ end, the company showed its ColorWorks C7500G bench top printer, which now ships with Wasatch SoftRIP with spot color matching. Epson demonstrated the C7500G in different configurations, including a unit to apply printed labels directly to bottles. An off-line 13in laminating and die-cutting machine developed by Metas was demonstrated, with the company looking at in-line options going forward.
