To ensure that only perfect products reach the customers, the SleeveWatcher conducts a 360-degrees label inspection of 100 percent of the product flow at speeds of up to 15 objects per second.

To avoid high reflections of light during the inspection process, Intravis developed adjusted lighting technology, which illuminates the entire inspection area and produces a very homogeneous light. This significantly minimizes the risk of reflections and false rejections.

The SleeveWatcher inspects with seven cameras sleeves for standard label inspection criteria such as presence, identity as well as horizontal and vertical offset. In addition, the system inspects for defects such as smiling and frowning effects, folds, distortions, and holes. The company also offers optional functionality such as OCR code reading for plain text, data matrix codes or barcodes.

In addition to sorting out defective products, the SleeveWatcher provides comprehensive product-related quality data helping to identify trends at an early stage and take appropriate countermeasures. The exportable reports also support quality teams in informing their customers extensively about the quality of the delivered products.

‘The large selection of object shapes with diverse combinations of colors, patterns, and transparent label parts provides a particularly high degree of variation for sleeve labels. These elements, which make the sleeved product attractive to the end consumer, are often highly challenging for vision inspection systems,’ said the company in a statement. ‘Due to the specially arranged hardware as well as a completely new developed inspection module for the IntraVision software, the SleeveWatcher is optimally adjusted to the challenging characteristics of sleeve labels.’
