Soma Engineering launches Lamiflex S

Soma Engineering has launched its re-designed Lamiflex S laminator with new efficiencies to increase production and operator functionality including options for high performance, non-stop unwind and rewind stations.
The Lamiflex S system is capable of operating with solvent free adhesives and features roll-to-roll laminating with the ability to process a wide range of substrates in two layers including BOPP, PET, PE. LDPE, OPA, Cast Films, PP, aluminum foil and paper.
Pavla Vernerova, brand manager, said: ‘Some of the design improvements that provide greater ease of operation include shaft-less rewind to simplify roll handling and a shorter web thread path to reduce time and material waste during job changeovers. We have also provided for an ergonomic solution at the coating station with a larger work area and access window for faster cleaning of the rollers. The system for applying glue now uses a mixing head mounted directly on an adjustable hose that travels across the web width that eliminates the need for externally mounted equipment and lengthy pipe work.’
Increased productivity on the Lamiflex S is achieved through a higher machine speed of up to 500mt/min (1,640 fpm) and temperature controlled rollers to heat the substrate and provide faster laminating conditions. An aerosol glue removal system prevents glue misting at high running speeds and promotes a safer working environment. An option to increase speeds up to 600 m/min (1,970 fpm) for higher productivity can also be offered.
Drives for both unwind and rewind units utilize AC servomotors to optimize control accuracy plus Soma’s ‘Parabolic Tension Control System’ to eliminate roll telescoping.
The Lamiflex S is designed for web widths from 300 to 1,350 mm (12 to 53 inches) with a maximum roll diameter of 1,000 mm (39 inches).
