PCMC reaches new agreement with union
Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Local 1102 of the United Autoworkers Union have reached a new contractual agreement covering work at the company’s Reber Street facility.
The agreement covers a three-year period from 8 November 2003 to 4 November 2006. Provisions of the new contract include a two-year wage freeze, reductions in paid break time and implementation of a weekend shift.
‘Employees at the Reber Stret plant understand the challenges facing our company and US manufacturing in general,’ says Frederick Baer, president and CEO of PCMC. ‘Our Ashland Avenue unit agreed to open their contract early and negotiated economic and language changes in September. With these improvements in our cost structure at the Reber Street plant, I believe we have improved our ability to compete on a worldwide basis.’
PCMC’s expertise lies in manufacturing converting equipment, packaging machinery, coaters and in-line narrow web flexographic printing. It also has operating divisions in England, Italy, Japan, China, Brazil, Switzerland and Germany.
