Smart Label Summit Europe reports success
Smart Label Summit Europe, the only European conference this year to focus on the combined advances in smart and RFID label technology, took place recently in Amsterdam. The summit welcomed 191 international delegates and was hosted by the Labelexpo Europe team. The event helped label converters to tap into the huge potential available for the industry in rolling out this technology in both the short and long-term.
Leading experts from some of the world’s top consumer brands delivered presentations and shared their technical insights with the large delegation. The packed conference room listened to discussions and presentations from directors and senior managers in some of Europe’s leading brand owner companies including Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Hewlett Packard, Scandinavian Airlines and Unilever, to name a few. The summit also gave the opportunity for the label industry to attend a masterclass hosted by international expert Mike Fairley. In the masterclass delegates learned how smart labels are constructed, including in-line and off-line manufacture, the printing of antennae with conductive inks, and methods of attaching straps and inlays.
Tristan Allen, marketing director of Timestrip plc, commented: ‘Smart Label Summit Europe was an excellent showcase for Timestrip. There were significant levels of interest in our products and the summit offered a great networking opportunity.’ Over 92 per cent of delegates found the conference extremely beneficial and enjoyed the hot topics discussed on the busy program.
Robert Potter, managing director of Picosoft, said: ‘We were delighted with the Smart Label Summit in Amsterdam. It was well worthwhile for us. We had lots of interest internationally and have already gained many new customers from the event.’
A tabletop exhibition ran alongside the conference with leading international suppliers showing their latest products and innovations. Exhibitors included: Avery Dennison, HP, Timestrip, bielomatik, Domino Printing Sciences, Jetrion, Muehlbauer and Picosoft, to name a few.
Roger Pellow, Smart Label Summit Europe managing director, said: ‘We’ve had some great feedback from delegates and exhibitors and we’re delighted with the success of the conference in Amsterdam.’
