DuPont installs nine-layer blown film line to enhance packaging prototype capabilities

- Line designed to help customers develop new multi-layer packaging structures quickly and cost-effectively using less material in the testing phase
- Investment supports DuPont's global network of development laboratories from South America and Europe, to Asia and North America
DuPont Packaging has installed a pilot-scale. nine-layer blown film line at its application development laboratory in Wilmington, Delaware to help customers bring innovation to market quickly and cost-effectively.
The new line is designed to help customers develop new multi-layer packaging structures quickly and cost-effectively using less material in the testing phase.
DuPont said supporting packaging development programs with efficient testing equipment helps customers design structures in a way that optimizes the balance between performance and cost, adding that its sealants and tie-layer materials are used in producing multi-layer packaging structures.
Kurt Adams, vice president of innovation and technology at DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, said: ‘The ability to work with customers on new ideas and test those ideas is an essential part of the development cycle and can help ensure new packaging structures are optimized for performance, cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
‘This investment supports our global network of development laboratories in China, Brazil, Switzerland, India, Japan and Canada.’
DuPont will discuss this development, as well as others, at Pack Expo 2012, which starts on Sunday (October 28).
