Mitsubishi HiTec Paper cuts carbon emissions
Mitsubishi HiTec Paper has taken steps at its Flensburg mill that have reduced its carbon dioxide emission by 84 percent.

The introduction of chemical flocculation of wastewater from the coaters before indirect discharge has led to a significant reduction in power consumption from 8.5 to 1.3 kWh/m³ at the Flensburg site.
Annual savings of 239,000 kWh is roughly equivalent to the electricity consumption of 70 average German households. This means the specialty paper manufacturer has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 84 percent.
The manufacturer has also joined the German Wirtschaft pro Klima initiative. Wirtschaft pro Klima brings together German companies that are actively committed to protecting the climate. They must also show intent to take further actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in order to reach the two degrees C target of the UN Climate Change Conference 2010.
The agreement from the UN conference aims to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions so as to hold the increase in the global average temperature below two degrees C above pre-industrial levels.
