The Label Makers installs bespoke MPS/AB Graphic combination press

This is the first time an AB Graphic Big Foot module has been integrated on a flexo press, along with another first in the module accommodating 430mm material

UK printer The Label Makers has installed a bespoke line featuring MPS and AB Graphic technology to enhance its label embellishment offering.

This combines a 10-color MPS EF 430 flexo press with an AB Graphic Big Foot hot foil/embossing module.  Big Foot was previously designed to accommodate a maximum material width of 320mm, so the request from The Label Makers involved extensive engineering to accommodate the 430mm width of the MPS press.

This is the first time an AB Graphic Big Foot module has been integrated on a flexo press, along with another first in the module accommodating a 430mm material width.

Nick Tyrer, sales director at MPS Systems (UK) and Tony Bell, sales director at AB Graphic, closely collaborated during the project to ensure seamless installation of the new Big Foot hot foil/embossing module on the MPS EF press.

With the MPS/AB Graphic combination press, The Label Makers can run larger label print runs in a single pass, embellished with silkscreen or multi-colored hot foil for the ‘ultimate in luxury decoration’ of beer, wine, spirits and personal care labels. The investment has been made in an effort to reduce tooling and hot foiling cost while increasing production speed in conventional printing.

David Webster, managing director at The Label Makers, said: ‘I am extremely pleased with both MPS and AB Graphic in successfully delivering us a highly customized solution for label embellishment. During a weekend they began work on integrating the MPS EF press with the newly engineered AB Graphic Big Foot hot foil/embossing module and within a week we were up and running – in perfect registration.’
