RPC expands label printing capability

RPC bpi protec Worcester has invested £1.7 million (US$2.4 million) in a new Comexi flexo press and Ashe slitting machine for the production of reel-fed labels.

The new flexo press produces high quality labels in up to eight colors for effective on-shelf impact and differentiation, with tight tolerances for accurate application onto bottles, according to RPC bpi protec. It also has the flexibility to produce short runs in order to respond quickly to changing market demands.

This latest investment underlines RPC bpi protec’s commitment to delivering new options to meet the changing needs of fast moving and competitive markets.

Eric Roche, RPC bpi protec general manager, explained: ‘This is an important part of our ongoing investment strategy. We are pleased to have added this print capability as part of our product and will continue to work in the development of specific solutions to meet customer’s individual requirements.’

RPC bpi protec develops innovative and environmentally sustainable packaging for global brand owners operating in many different food, drink and specialist sectors.

RPC bpi protec is a major producer of polythene film products, supplying over 270,000 tonnes each year for numerous applications, and its recycling plants reprocess over 70,000 tonnes of UK waste from industrial, commercial, agricultural and domestic sources.

RPC bpi protec is one of four specialist business units – alongside bpi recycled products, bpi agriculture, bpi indupac – within the RPC bpi group.
