DLS details developments driven by Durst Tau 330 digital press investment

Canada’s Design Label Systems (DLS) has reported a positive impact on its business after acquiring a Durst Tau 330 digital UV label press at the end of last year.

DLS has been using the Tau 330 primarily for shorter run, very high quality projects

After extensive research, DLS identified the 7-color Tau 330 with in-line Smag finishing system as its machine of choice, citing significant anticipated savings as well as faster turnaround. The Tau 330 was made late last year, as detailed here.

Founded 26 years ago, Design Label Systems operates in the pressure-sensitive label market. The 75-employee company provides label and packaging products to a wide range of industries from its 25,000 sq ft facility in Mississauga, Ontario, including food, household products, health and beauty, wine and spirits, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and manufacturing.

DLS vice president Imran Faruqui said: ‘The Tau has already drastically reduced time spent on pre-press tasks. It creates highly accurate proofs and provides tremendous ink laydown, which has allowed us to get into more demanding markets.’

DLS has been using the Tau 330 primarily for shorter run, very high quality projects, and Adam Faruqui, marketing and sales director at DLS, added: ‘Pharmaceuticals, beauty and cosmetics, wine labels – these are markets we could not have competed in with traditional printing. Digital is perfect for them.  And it has already paid off.’
