Ion Industrial, a charging system from MKS, is specially designed for the demands of converting operations, including electrostatically tacking the leading edge of the film web to the core in winding roll changeover without the use of adhesive tape, temporary bonding two webs together for lamination, compressing plastic bags, pinning heat-shrink wrapping prior to oven, interlayer adhesion by bi-polar charging of the web prior to roll winding for telescoping control, and other web handling and control applications.

The 7305 Charging Generator, a microprocessor-based DC power supply, provides operating versatility in three output versions: negative, positive or dual-polarity. This fully-programmable generator can provide timed charge action, output level alarms, remote output control, and three modes of output control.

Special high-performance 7430 charging bars feature long-lasting, tungsten electrodes in a unique spacing configuration to achieve charging currents 20 per cent higher than industry-standard bars. Cost-effective stainless steel electrodes are also available. Special electrode resistors help prevent formation of high-voltage arcs. All internal components are encapsulated in a special fiber-reinforced resin body. Mounting holes, located on a structural rib along the back of the bar, allow using standard metal hardware for simplified retrofitting into existing machines.
