Kurz publishes 2025 sustainability report

Leonhard Kurz has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining progress on emissions reduction, renewable energy generation and supply chain responsibility at the Fürth-based specialist in surface finishing and thin-film technology.

Kurz's German sites in Fürth and Sulzbach-Rosenberg now run on 100 percent renewable electricity, with more than 13 GWh of the company's electricity demand supplied by photovoltaic systems in 2025. Construction of a power-to-heat system with thermal energy storage at the Sulzbach-Rosenberg production site began last year, with commissioning expected in fall 2026. The system will use surplus solar power to produce process heat and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 700 metric tons per year.

Kurz was awarded an EcoVadis Silver Medal in 2025, placing it among the top 15 percent of companies assessed globally and the top 6 percent within its industry. The company has participated in the UN Global Compact since 2021 and was recognized by the UN Global Compact Network Germany as a Good Practice example in the implementation of Germany's Supply Chain Due Diligence Act.
