Benson backs first Café Quality Food and Drink Awards
Printed folding carton supplier Benson Group has signed up as a sponsor of the first Café Quality Food and Drink Awards, a sister competition to the Quality Food & Drink Awards in the UK and Ireland.

The Café Quality Food and Drink Awards are open to all national, regional and independent cafés, as well as food producers, wholesalers and food service operators who serve the industry, with the awards program established to recognize the increasing demand for quality own-label and branded ranges at affordable prices in the retail and catering channels.
Benson Group has signed up as a main sponsor of the 2015 Café Quality Food and Drink Awards, along with Sacla Italia, an Italian pesto and pasta sauce brand.
Nikki Clark, marketing manager at Benson Group, said: ‘As one of Europe’s leading food packaging providers, Benson Group understands the desire to experiment, innovate and excel – it’s at the heart of what we do – and because of this we are proud to continue our long association with the Q Awards by extending our sponsorship to include the inaugural Café Quality Food and Drink Awards.’
‘Nothing stands still in the world of food,’ Clark added, ‘and those of us at the frontline of food packaging want to make sure we provide new and creative packaging solutions that display products to their best effect.
‘Benson Group’s conceptual and technical design teams have really excelled themselves over the past year, with the ingenious products comprising our Delilicious range. With items ranging from traditional sandwich and wrap packs, to more futuristic product concepts including our award winning quesadilla pack, Benson Group is always right on the button when it comes to developments in the food-to-go sector.’
Another new product available from Benson is DesignerWare, a tray that incorporates composite package technology by utilizing a paperboard blank with an injection molded, glass fibre reinforced seal and flange.
DesignerWare is ideally suited for the frozen and chilled meal solutions markets, Benson Group said, and is a viable alternative to standard CPET trays. It can be printed on both the outside and inside of the pack, enabling huge potential in terms of pack copy, marketing text, photography and graphical areas.
DesignerWare can also feature inclusive cooking options – such as Susceptor for crisping or browning and MicroRite to allow for even heating or shielding – which allows for oven-style cooked food with the convenience of using the microwave. Sleeved and lidded options are available.
The winners in the inaugural Café Quality Food and Drink Awards will be announced at an event at the London Marriott Hotel on June 5, with the Quality Food & Drink Awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on November 13.
