AB Graphic and KAMA join forces at Drupa

UK converting and finishing company AB Graphic International and German finishing solutions specialist KAMA are to join forces at the forthcoming Drupa 2012 and show their dedicated converting solution for digitally printed cartonboard.
AB Graphic said the Digicon folding carton solution features KAMA flatbed die cutting and creasing modules. The system will include a large diameter unwind with in-line flexo unit for varnishing plus UV curing and hot air drying modules. It will be shown in a special Short Run Packaging Center in hall 2 running cartons previously printed on an HP digital press.
The Digicon folding carton solution offers users the ability to convert digitally printed board at speeds up to 11,000 die impressions an hour up to a maximum thickness of 450 microns, according to AB Graphic, and is capable of embossing braille text at the same time as cutting and creasing.
The system offers a maximum web width of 340mm and can be fully integrated in-line with the HP Indigo WS6000 and WS6600 presses to permit printing and converting in one pass. Options include print face inspection camera, hot foil stamping and laminating modules.
Tony Bell, sales director at AB Graphic International, said: ‘We are a platinum partner to HP and already have several Digicon folding carton systems with KAMA cutting and creasing modules installed at carton and label printing companies in Europe, the US and India. Both carton producers and label printers are seeing the benefits of using digital print to manufacture short run carton jobs more profitably and in some cases enter new market sectors.
‘The Digicon and KAMA converting system is a viable solution for many jobs. Low cost tooling is readily available and job changes take under 10 minutes to complete.’
