Belmark to install second VSOP

Belmark, a leading US packaging manufacturer, will install a second Müller Martini variable sleeve offset printing (VSOP) press at its Wisconsin facility at the end of the year.

The VSOP uses sleeve technology to change print sizes easily, making it more cost effective for print lengths that change frequently than flexo or gravure presses.  Its printing units are infinitely variable for all print image lengths, offering almost limitless order possibilities, with complete job changeovers carried out in a matter of minutes.

Karl Schmitt, Belmark president, said: ‘We’ve been very happy with the performance of the first VSOP, and that’s given us the confidence to purchase another.’

A variety of printed packaging, from labels to flexible packaging and folding cartons is commercially viable with the VSOP, which suits Belmark’s business in the dairy, snack food, durable goods, and pet food markets.  It will use the second VSOP specifically for folding cartons, and has specified it with offset and flexo capabilities, along with an automatic splicer, auto register control, EB curing and in-line die cutting.
