Since its inception in 2005, primarily as a die-cutter for the food and pharmaceutical industries, P2 Finishing has expanded its capacity and capabilities to become one of the most established names in print finishing. As well as die-cutting, the business also offers folder-gluing, window patching, hand finishing, lamination and spot UV finishing services.

P2 Finishing’s latest investment has been motivated by meeting the needs of today’s print customers through enhanced digitalization and efficiency. The machine is the first Bobst unit installed by the company, replacing an outgoing flatbed die cutter.

‘One of the biggest challenges in the print finishing industry is keeping up with volatile demand levels and price pressures – in short, we need to accomplish more with our resources,’ said Alan Smith, managing director of P2 Finishing. ‘Our business has developed an outstanding reputation for quality and pin-point precision, and P2 Finishing proudly invests in technology to give our customers the speed, quality, and versatility they need. This makes the Bobst Novacut 106 E a dream fit for P2 Finishing.

‘From an operational standpoint, we know that Bobst has a reputation for quality and accuracy over very long periods of time, so the lifetime cost is extremely attractive for us. We are also given added peace of mind with real-time software. With the connected app, I can view our productivity levels, patterns and downtime, as well as access 24-hour technical support. The Novacut 106 E’s versatility also means we can serve new needs with a wider range of material substrates, such as corrugated and plastic. As a trade finisher, attention to detail is paramount. I cannot fault the Bobst team, the process of purchasing, installing and setting up our new investment has been stress-free from the start.’

According to Bobst, the Novacut 106 E Autoplaten die-cutter delivers enhanced versatility and productivity. Its benefits include precise sheet feeding and smooth sheet travel, perfect in-line stripping at speed, and an integrated quick-lock system for fast, simple job changeovers. The optical cut-to-print register reduces setting times and feed-related stops while delivering blank register quality.

‘We are thrilled to see investment in Bobst technology from Dublin-based P2 Finishing and believe this will be the beginning of a strong, rewarding partnership. As a truly customer-oriented business, P2 Finishing is a prime example of how an evolving print market is shaping today’s supply chain capabilities,’ added Stuart Alvey-Taylor, sales manager at Bobst UK and Ireland. ‘The Novacut 106 E die cutter is already showing its impressive advantages – the team is seeing increased productivity and quicker setup as a result of its user-friendly operation. All along the print and packaging supply chain, the focus is on packaging that looks great on-shelf and captures the consumers’ attention.’
