Umesh and Pramod Dongre of Shree Multi Labels, based in Pune, installed their first 9-color Ultraflex UFO 370 press in February 2019. The company has confirmed its second order for a 6-color Ultraflex UFO press to be delivered by end of December 2020. Shree Multi specializes in pressure-sensitive, filmic labels and food packaging stand-up pouches.

Elaborating on his choice for the Ultraflex UFO, Pramod Dongre, said: ‘It is a value-for-money press that offers all features and high-quality printing. Moreover, due to covid lockdown, buying from local manufacturers ensures good service and timely installation, which is critical for the just-in-time delivery requirement of brands.’

Another Pune-based company, Hempra, owned by Parveen and Tanish Mutha, installed its first 9-color Ultraflex UFO 450 flexo press in July 2019. Hempra specializes in flexible packaging and shrink sleeves. The second press, an 8-color Ultraflex UFO 450, is expected to be delivered in February 2021.

Sanjay Vakharia of SM Packaging, located in Vasai, Mumbai, installed a 10-color Ultraflex UFO 370 press in September 2019 and is engaged in pressure-sensitive, shrink sleeves and in-mold labels for pharma and F&F industry. Vakharia has ordered his second 8-color Ultraflex UFO 370 press, which is expected to be delivered in November 2020.

‘We have opted for a fully configurated press from UV Graphic after running the first machine smoothly for a year. Ultrafllex UFO, in my opinion, is comparable to a European press in terms of high printing quality, efficiency, speed, and is also user-friendly,’ said Vakharia.

UV Graphic will deliver two new presses in the beginning of October, thus making way to start executing these fresh orders. One 8-color Ultraflex UFO 450 press to print films will be delivered to Radhey Labels in Ankleshwar, Gujrat; the second will be shipped to Atharva Packaging in Indore.

Additionally, UV Graphic recently installed three machines, one each in Pune, Delhi and Kalka.

With this the company has installed a total of five presses from April to the end of September 2020, with a strong pipeline for the current fiscal.

Abhay Datta, director of UV Graphic Technologies, said: ‘We have been getting a lot of enquiries since April, mainly from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. A lot of people are getting rid of their old equipment. They are investing in new flexo presses with mid- and wide-web widths of 450 and 530mm to print both pressure-sensitive labels and flexible packaging. Businesses have had time to think and restrategize their business models during the lockdown. So, stable companies are making an investment for a better future of their respective enterprises.’
