Weigang installs first press in Africa

Intergraphic Sales & Services, the exclusive distributor of Weigang label printing presses in India, has completed the installation of an 8-color fully servo driven ZJR-330 flexo printing machine at Perfect Packaging in Nigeria.

Spring Xu, international sales manager at Weigang, said: ‘This marks our entry in the West African market. We are confident of good growth in this part of the world.’

Amit Seth, managing director at Intergraphic Sales & Services, added: ‘Installing this press at Perfect Packaging in Nigeria has been a remarkable assignment and a great experience. This is a sophisticated press with all standard features such as cold foil, delam, relam, turnbar, multi-layer lamination unit for booklet labels, and an in-line digital die-cutting unit from Weigang.’

Perfect Packaging started operations at the new plant in Lagos, Nigeria in 2010. Spread across an area of 87,000 sq ft, the facility houses two 6-color flexo tower unit and the new Weigang press alongside a newly installed inspection machine from Guangzhou Pulisi.

‘We have been catering to pressure sensitive labels for cosmetics, distillery, and food and beverage segments in the region until now. With the installation of new equipment, we are now looking at diversifying to print shrink sleeves and unsupported films,’ said Yudhviram Solanki, managing director, Perfect Packaging.

Perfect Packaging is a sister concern of Sicon Packs headquartered in Mumbai, and has a plant spread across an area of 12,000 sq ft where it already runs two letterpress machines from Orthotec for printing labels for FMCG companies. Company started operations in 1998 and is looking at restructuring the plant by bringing in latest machines.
