UK converter installs pressurized airflow system

UK converter Systems Labelling’s latest installation at its Deeside plant is a bespoke pressurized airflow system. The tailored equipment consists of four large fans with substantial ducting and special filters that extract dust particles as small as 3 microns.

The system pulls air into the production area at a rate calculated to be 10 percent higher than the total extraction. This ensures that when doors and windows are opened air is pushed out of the building rather than sucked in along with dust that may find its way onto printed labels. The company cites this significant investment as the latest example of Systems Labelling’s attitude to quality control and providing a more comfortable working environment for its skilled workforce.

Airflow Groups’ Stephen Frost commented: ‘Systems Labelling is a unique business. Having supplied air control systems for many years this installation did provide us with a challenge. However by working closely with the in-house engineers we were able to develop a robust solution.’

Engineering manager Vernon Pearce added: ‘We are very pleased with the result, and although a tricky installation we were able to work around the 24/7 production area without interruption.’
