AVT launches post-inspection AI

AVT has launched AutoEdit AI, making the AI-driven post-inspection defect classification module available to the wider label market on a subscription basis for AVT Helios 100 percent print inspection systems. The module debuted at Labelexpo Europe 2025 and has since been running on converter production floors.

AutoEdit AI addresses the bottleneck that occurs after defect detection, when operators must manually review the virtual roll and classify each logged defect as salable or requiring removal at the rewinder. The module runs after Helios inspection and before AVT Workflow Link automatic waste removal, classifying every detected defect into one of three categories: salable, non-salable or requiring final review. Only the third category is surfaced to the operator. The pre-sorted view arrives inside PrintFlow Manager, the interface operators already use, requiring no new screen or station.

The model has been trained centrally by AVT across production data from many converters, applications, substrates and end-market quality standards. Every classification and operator override is logged in PrintFlow, creating an audit trail for pharmaceutical, food, healthcare and personal care converters. The module is provided with both software and dedicated processing hardware and installed alongside existing Helios systems without disruption. Updates carrying accumulated industry learning are delivered periodically.

AutoEdit AI is designed to lift that classification burden directly.'
