Durst, a manufacturer of digital printing equipment, has launched Diva – a digital varnishing module for the Rotoworx 330 modular finishing system.

The Diva module, developed and manufactured by Durst’s Montreal, Canada-based subsidiary, will be showcased at Labelexpo Americas in Chicago on September 14-16, 2010, where the company will also exhibit its range of products for the narrow web label industry – including the Tau 150 digital UV inkjet printing press.

Durst’s managing director Dr Richard Piock commented: 'Diva will provide our customers with the unique ability to produce different gloss levels – high gloss, semi gloss, satin, matte etc, with one single fluid in one single pass – a first in the industry. In addition, it is completely digital enabling customers to produce special effects, such as textures and even tactile elements, and vary the top-finish from label to label. We have a strong commitment to innovation and we continue to accelerate our R&D investments with a major focus on the label market. We believe that the Diva module will be a very important source of competitive advantage for our customers.'

The 13” wide Diva module is fully integrated with the Rotoworx 330, which already features semi-rotary die-cutting at a speed of up to 160 ft/min, lamination and UV flood coating. Existing Rotoworx 330 machines can be upgraded with the new module which will commence shipment immediately after Labelexpo.
