Durst reports successful Labelexpo appearance

Durst marked the first anniversary of its entry into the label Industry by showing four new machine configurations at Labelexpo Americas.
In addition to the Tau 150 printing press in its standard version (featuring CMYK and white), the company presented it’s the new Tau 150-8C, an 8 color UV inkjet press configured with CMYK, white, orange, violet and varnish. Three additional print modules have been added to the standard Tau 150, without compromising its running speed of 157 ft/min.
The new colors orange and violet are known as Process Color Additions (PCA) and reportedly make it possible to cover over 90 percent of the Pantone range. The addition of varnish, fully digital, enables customer to finish the label with any desired gloss level or highlight particular areas (spot varnish). Customers may purchase the machine in its base configuration – CMYK – or add any of the additional modules (white, O/V and/or varnish). Another new configuration option is the variable data printing module (VDP) which enables fully variable text, numbering as well as barcodes and images.
The company also showed the Rotoworx 330 modular finishing machine, aimed at the short run label print market and supporting all processes with a web width of 13in. The Rotoworx 330 is based on semi-rotary die-cutting and runs at speeds of up to 160 ft/min. In addition to the standard features, one machine was equipped with the new Diva module – a digital varnishing system which provides customers with the unique ability to produce different gloss levels – high gloss, semi gloss, satin, matte, etc – with one fluid in one pass. Another Rotoworx 330 machine was configured with a VDP module, enabling variable data printing as part of the finishing process,
‘The Durst booth experienced high traffic throughout the show and the company reported a good number of orders,’ the company said in a statement.
