Grafotronic launches two new products

Grafotronic has unveiled Grafotronic IQ, an automation package and The One single anvil semi-rotary die-cutting module reaching 150 m/min. The two products were originally planned to be showcased at Labelexpo Europe 2022 which has now been postponed to September 2023.

Grafotronic has unveiled Grafotronic IQ, an automation package and The One single anvil semi-rotary die-cutting module
Featuring four high-definition cameras, automation features and controlling software, Grafotronic IQ is a workflow automation suite that enables the Grafotronic DCL modular finisher to do job change autonomous, handling all job settings automatically.

Mattias Malmquist, vice president, Grafotronic, said: ‘We all want to be more efficient, increase productivity, decrease waste and everyone should be able to get the most out of our machine. Our latest innovation will do that. Grafotronic IQ is all about: no more manual side adjustments, no more manual register sensor settings and now more depending on the individual operator when it comes to set up times, waste, and product quality.’

Grafotronic IQ works with a set of cameras that monitor the web and automatically adjust what’s needed. All of this is done at the high speed within the digital finishing field. Sensors are automatically moved into the right position without any manual interference.

The automation system takes over all the manual adjustments. Roll change, flexo printing, semi-rotary die-cutting and slitting is done and checked with a tolerance below +/- 0.1mm.

‘All the operator needs to do, is to change the tools in our existing quick-change solutions. We calculate an average waste of maximum two meters per roll change, so almost no waste, the shortest possible setup times and automatically achieved best label quality,’ Malmquist added.

The One single anvil design is superior to twin anvil systems when it comes to set up times and waste at job change, according to the company. The One new die-cutting module can be set up within just 30cm and is developed to handle short runs as well.

‘Die-cutting is one of our strongest features and Grafotronic is a proud market leader within this segment. Our machines are already running up to 110m/min on our single anvil systems. We also invented the Gigafast. A system based on a twin anvil design, and it is still the fastest system in the world,’ Malmquist explained.

‘Today we are very proud to introduce The One. The One is the first single anvil system that will run in speeds matching the twin anvils. And this is with a tolerance of just +/- 0.1mm.’

Grafotronic invites customers from all over the world to join the Grafotronic Digital Demo Days, a hybrid on-line and on-site, two weeks open house event, in its facilities in Warsaw taking place in the last week of April and the first week of May.
