New embossed hologram inspection system from TecScan
TecScan Electronics Ltd, a pioneer in the specialized field of print vision inspection, has announced the introduction of two unique video inspection systems for in-line quality control of soft and hard embossed holograms. The AVIS HPQ (Advanced Vision Inspection System High Print Quality) is an automatic system with default detection while the AVIS H (Hologram) is an operator controlled version of the same solution.
The powerful technology behind the AVIS enables both variants to detect defects as small as 10 microns, as well as shim defects, shim degeneration, shim damage, bugs and cleaning smears.
The innovative AVIS- HPQ features sophisticated software which, upon detection of a hologram defect, automatically alerts the operator through activation of an alarm signal. Operating in conjunction with a high resolution CCD digital color imaging system, which uses unique strobe technology to illuminate and capture up to three images per second, the AVIS displays any defects on a monitor for operator analysis. The camera traverses the width of the web and down the shim area to image all of the embossed area over several seconds.
A key benefit of the AVIS- HPQ is the ability for operators to select one of the images as an acceptable quality, which is then stored as a reference image. The print defect detection software then compares each image captured during production with the reference, alerting the operator with an audible and visual signal if the quality falls outside the parameters of this reference.
TecScan also delivers the opportunity to monitor pitch length, with its WEB RANGER system, which continuously measures the pitch length of holograms along the web. The Web Ranger requires no eye-mark to ensure accuracy and flags up by audio visual alarms if the pitch length varies from a pre-set tolerance.
The Web Ranger maintains a complete record of every measurement in Excel for future analysis or customer’s certification.
