Spectrum Label installs shaftless Mark Andy XP5000 press

Mark Andy has installed the first shaftless XP5000 press, which was launched at Labelexpo Americas 2008, at US converter Spectrum Label.
Spectrum Label is a converter with interests in a variety of markets including food, wine & beverage, health & beauty, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. The company cites increased interest from customers in obtaining film-based labels and flexible packaging as a key reason behind the purchase.
‘The shaftless XP5000 fulfills the promise of servo technology through independent interstation surface speed and registry control,’ stated Bruce Riddell, vice president of engineering, Spectrum Label. ‘This, combined with an enhanced drying system allows us to run high speed, predictable quality day in and day out.’
The Mark Andy XP5000 provides the capacity to perform flexo, UV flexo, cold foil, hot foil, screen and interstation die-cutting all within the same print head. In addition to the flexibility of the platform design, Mark Andy claims the machine offers faster makereadies, increased productivity, reduced waste and enhanced registration. Mark Massey, vice president of manufacturing, recently stated that the XP5000 press ‘has met and exceeded’ all expectations.
Founded in 1968, Spectrum Label houses eight Mark Andy presses in the 65,000 square foot facility in Hayward, California.
