Archroma debuts high-solids adhesive at Loupe Americas

Archroma Packaging Technologies will introduce its Cartacol APS75 Ultra pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) to the North American market at Loupe Americas 2026.

The patent-pending, water-based adhesive has been developed to help label converters reduce the energy required during the drying process. It will be presented at the event in Chicago, taking place on September 15-17, where Archroma will exhibit for the first time.

Conventional water-based PSAs typically contain approximately 65-70 percent solids, beyond which the emulsion can become too viscous for industrial coating lines. Archroma said its new platform increases the solids content while remaining processable at an industrial scale.

By reducing the amount of water that must be evaporated, the adhesive can lower electricity consumption, processing costs and the carbon footprint associated with coating. This could particularly benefit large label and packaging manufacturers operating coating lines with multiple drying units.

Cartacol APS75 Ultra is intended for general-purpose permanent paper labels and has been formulated to deliver performance comparable to established PSAs. Archroma will invite converters to trial the product ahead of its commercial launch.
