MCC develops sustainable labels for Quézac mineral water
Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) has developed a natural labeling option for the French mineral water brand Quézac allowing the brand to better translate its sustainability message and philosophy.

Quézac is a French sparkling mineral water originating in the Cévennes-Causses region owned by the family run Ogeu group. The bottling plant is located near to a small village which bestowed its name, Quézac in middle of the Cévennes national park.
The mineral water is drawn from a depth of almost 110 meters (360ft), from the preserved heart of the rocks of the Lozère. The purity of the water carries through into the product’s branding and philosophy to preserve the nature that gives it life.
Ogeu challenged MCC to develop a more sustainable labeling option than the existing paper labels, which would also allow to communicate the brand’s story.
MCC proposed to print the labels on a 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper. However, this material was only tested in very small scale beforehand, and the company was further challenged by Ogeu’s time constraints on this new product launch.
The company used 100 percent recycled wet strength paper with six colors and no varnish. The components of mineral water bottles and their corks are now fully recyclable. Printed with vegetable-based inks on recycled paper, the labels also contribute to the preservation of the environment.
Following a successful launch, all Quézac’s paper labels have now been switched to the recycled paper.
