Norprint has become the first company to be certified by GS1 UK, in the Logistics Labels category, for its WLP2 labeling software.

The company is now a fully GS1 UK accredited partner, validating its knowledge of GS1 standards and ability to provide barcode technology.

Norprint’s certified logistics labeling technology consists of a print, ship and validate solution for hardware such as label printers and barcode scanners, software such as label design and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). It can also be integrated into a host of third party systems.

It is designed for industries such as food and beverage, manufacturing, warehousing, freight and transport and any company involved in the shipping of products. It also incorporates ASN/SSCC (Advanced Shipping Notification) guidelines which are specified by large retailers in particular to ensure products arrive in the correct quantities at the correct destination.

The GS1 logistics labeling standards framework enables faster goods delivery, improved inventory management and fewer errors, leading to reduced costs and increased productivity.

GS1 UK partner program manager, Steve Watson, said: ‘I am pleased to announce Norprint are the first company to achieve certification in the Logistics Labels category. As accredited Solution Partners, GS1 UK members can be certain that the company has excellent knowledge and understanding of GS1 standards. Norprint’s certified solution and their new status as a GS1 UK Solution Partner makes them very attractive to users that want to deploy GS1standards based logistics labeling solutions.’

Chris Powell, Norprint’s sales and marketing manager, said: ‘I am delighted that we are the first company in the UK to certify a solution in this category. We are at the forefront of logistics labeling and this accreditation gives us yet another accolade, as we continuously strive to bring our customers leading edge solutions that take cost out of their business. We have been committed to GS1 UK standards for a long time and work closely with them in many areas of our business.’

Powell also paid credit to the team of four that undertook demanding training in order to assist the company in achieving partner status: ‘I am extremely proud of them, they passed the rigorous exams with flying colors and their knowledge of barcode applications and symbologies built up over the years shone through.’

The WLP2 technology was developed in-house by Norprint and has continuous investment from the company. The software is upgraded regularly so customers are kept up to date with the latest labeling formats and symbologies.
