Magic order for Makro Labelling

Makro Labelling UK has received an order from Sunmagic, based in Llantrisant, Wales, for a MAK-2 self-adhesive labeler.

The Makro MAK-2 self-adhesive labeler

Sunmagic has enjoyed continuous growth over the past few years thanks to its successful 100 percent pure juices, school-compliant flavored waters and cold pressed smoothies, all under its own branding. The company has also developed a line of own label products for high-end retailers in the UK.

With sales booming, some components on the two existing lines at Llantrisant, Wales, needed upgrading, so a new Makro MAK-2 self-adhesive labeler was ordered and is due for installation in early August.

Richard Portman, managing director of Makro Labelling UK, said: ‘We had dealings with the site director, Simon Greenwood, when he was previously at Framptons in Shepton Mallet, so he was very familiar with Makro labelers and my company in the UK.

‘Simon placed an order for the Makro MAK-2 12 platform labeler that will run at 12,000 bph applying wraparound self-adhesive labels onto round, triangular, hexagonal and square PET bottles ranging from 250ml to 1 liter in size. This machine offers clients very quick changeovers whatever the label or bottle size and as the run lengths are not always that long there can be up to six changeovers per shift. The flexibility built in to Makro labeling machines was key to the client coming to us.’

Portman continued: ‘Yet again the start of this year has been a record in terms of machine orders and installations. Here in the UK we have recently installed the largest wet-glue labeler that Makro has made at Shepherd Neame in Faversham, together with one of the fastest roll-feed wraparound labelers that Makro has built to-date being supplied to Clearly Drinks in Sunderland. All this success is on top of the orders we have received for our complete lines for micro brewers and spirit bottlers so 2018 is proving to be yet another very exciting year for us.’
