A record number of entries have been received for this year’s Excellence in Holography Awards, as the industry marks 70 years since the invention of the hologram.

Fifty entries will be considered for the Excellence in Holography Awards, which are organized by the International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA). To be presented at the forthcoming Holography Conference, which will be held from November 16-17 in Barcelona, Spain, the awards recognize outstanding achievement. They also reward those who have been at the forefront of the sector, pioneering innovative or commercially viable hologram products or techniques in the last 12 months.

IHMA chairman Manoj Kochar said: ‘All the hard work and effort to maximize nominations has paid off, while innovation and technical progress have driven companies to put their technologies forward for the highest industry recognition.

‘It’s fitting that in our 70th anniversary year, we’ve had a record number of nominations. So, it’s top marks to IHMA members for putting their work forward and their continuing commitment to see industry-wide excellence.

‘There really are some outstanding nominations, so the judges will have their work cut out.’

A panel of experts from the IHMA board will be judging the entries across several categories. These will include Holographic Technology, Origination, Display or Emerging Technology Applications, and Applied Security, Decorative and Packaging Products.

The annual Brian Monaghan Award for Business Innovation, given at the discretion of the board, will also be presented in recognition of outstanding industry achievement and contribution.
