Highcon has revealed details of the new generation of its Euclid cutting and creasing system, including a new substrate handling system equipped to process labels

The Highcon Euclid is a digital cutting and creasing system that was introduced to the packaging market at drupa 2012, initially as a system for streamlining the folding carton production process, although recent development have extended its capabilities to other areas, including labels and fluted substrates.

Euclid II is to be unveiled at the end of September, and includes a number of further additional features to enhance the system’s potential for applications beyond folding cartons.

This includes the new substrate handling system, which can handle a wide range of substrates such as paper, folding carton, labels and microflute with additional sensors ensuring registration accuracy and a smooth, uninterrupted sheet flow.

Other new features of the second-generation Euclid are an integrated digital stripping unit, optical registration, a fine cutting accelerator, web-to-pack software, a new polymer formula and the implementation of optimized rule geometry for enhanced creasing quality and to allow the production of curved lines, optimized cutting algorithms that heighten the accuracy and control over the laser power and a new user-friendly interface.

A top-of-the-line Euclid II+ will include all of the new features.

Aviv Ratzman, Highcon chief executive officer and co-founder, said: ‘By transforming finishing into a value adding process, the Euclid II series can positively impact each user’s profitability.’
