Xeikon expands its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with opening of technology center in Tokyo

Xeikon has opened a second technology center in the Asia-Pacific region, located in Tokyo, Japan, as it looks to continue to grow and expand in the region.

The Xeikon technology center in Tokyo includes a 3500 digital press

The new technology center features Xeikon technology for the production of labels and packaging, as well as for document and commercial printing applications. Equipment installed includes a 3500 digital press, designed for folding carton printing and which will be shown in the Packprint Workshop feature area of Labelexpo Europe 2015. Visitors to the technology center in Tokyo will also be able to learn about the Xeikon CX3, which will be launched by the digital printing specialist at Labelexpo Europe 2015, as well as the Xeikon 9800 for document printing applications. Future visitors and customers will have the chance to have hands-on interaction with Xeikon’s product suites developed in collaboration with its global network of Aura partners, and the ability to test their own applications. Xeikon suites are designed to address the needs of some of the fastest growing digital printing niches, including folding cartons and in-mold labels.

The grand opening of the Tokyo technology center included a Xeikon Café featuring a number of educational partner presentations, with more than 50 invited guests attending. Attendees were welcomed by Xeikon CEO Wim Maes and Atsushi Yamabe, Xeikon managing director for Japan. Yamabe also conducted a demonstration of the Xeikon 3500 press, while Bent Serritslev, Xeikon Asia Pacific managing director, shared information about the Xeikon portfolio.

‘We are seeing continued and unprecedented growth in the Asia-Pacific region,’ said Maes. ‘We are especially pleased to be able to open this important technology center in Japan. This state-of-the-art facility will play an important role in spurring growth for Xeikon in Japan, and in helping our Japanese customers make the most of their investments in Xeikon.

‘The center will focus on testing, benchmarking and product demonstrations that the Japanese printing and packaging community has been requesting and will be an important venue for face-to-face meetings, which are so important in Japanese culture. We are very proud of our Japanese team, who conducted such a successful grand opening event.’

The technology center in Tokyo follows one opened in Malaysia earlier this year, Xeikon's first in the Asia-Pacific region.

‘Xeikon continues its expansion in this important region,’ said Serritslev. ‘This technology center is an important demonstration of Xeikon’s dedication to helping its customers stay ahead of developing trends with a broad portfolio of products and services in document and commercial printing as well as labels and packaging. The Tokyo technology center will allow us to further improve our service to new and existing customers in Japan.’
