Kongskilde to show waste handling at Loupe

At Loupe Americas 2026, Kongskilde Industries will bring together two complementary areas of expertise: Matho's pioneering knowledge of label waste handling and Kongskilde's established capabilities in pneumatic conveying, material handling and customized systems.

Visitors will be able to see this combined expertise in action with a live demonstration of the Cub Compact Unit, one of Kongskilde's core technologies for automated label waste handling.

Matho and the Thor family were among the original innovators of dedicated handling equipment for label production waste, first showcasing their technologies in the 1990s. Their approach to cutting, extracting and managing continuous matrix waste and trim helped transform how label producers handle waste directly at the press. Over the decades that followed, Matho developed application knowledge around the challenges created by self-adhesive matrix, edge trim and other difficult production waste.

Today, that expertise is fully part of Kongskilde Industries. Matho is now Kongskilde's specialist for the label industry, bringing decades of application and customer knowledge into a broader industrial platform with global sales, engineering, testing and service capabilities.

Together, Matho's specialized knowledge of press-side cutting and extraction and Kongskilde's pneumatic conveying and material handling technologies enable complete systems designed around each customer's production process. Kongskilde can support the complete material flow, from compact machine-side technologies to centralized systems serving multiple production lines, covering waste capture and cutting at the press through pneumatic conveying, separation, collection and compaction.

The integration is already supporting continued development of Kongskilde's offering for the label industry.

One example is the Cub Compact Unit for automated label waste handling. The machine is designed to capture, cut, convey and collect matrix waste, adhesive and non-adhesive edge trim, die-cut pieces and other production waste in a compact system positioned close to the production line. The Cub offering has now been expanded with the new Waste Screw Compactor, providing another option for producers that
require continuous waste handling. Integrated with the Cub, the technology compresses and continuously discharges cut waste, helping reduce manual intervention and the frequency of bag changes while allowing material to be collected directly into a larger container.

Together with standard bag collection and the endless bag system, the Waste Screw Compactor allows the Cub to be configured around different waste volumes, materials and production requirements.

Label production presents waste handling challenges. Self-adhesive matrix and continuous trim need to be removed reliably at production speed while minimizing press interruptions, manual handling and waste accumulation around the production line.

By combining Matho's specialized cutting and machine-side extraction knowledge with Kongskilde's experience in pneumatic conveying, separation and collection, Kongskilde can support applications ranging from individual presses to centralized waste handling systems serving multiple production lines.

Depending on the application, technologies can capture waste directly at the point of production, cut continuous matrix and trim into manageable pieces, pneumatically convey material away from the press and collect or compact it at a designated location. For larger production environments, waste from multiple machines can also be routed to centralized collection or disposal equipment. Matho's existing centralized systems are designed to handle waste from multiple production machines and can discharge to equipment including balers, press containers and compactors.

For label producers, effective automated waste handling can help reduce press interruptions associated with matrix and trim removal, minimize manual handling of bulky production waste and reduce waste volume and simplify collection. It can keep production areas cleaner and free valuable floor space, support continuous production and increased productivity and connect individual machines or multiple production lines to centralized waste handling. It can also configure the system around specific materials, production speeds, layouts and collection requirements.

A key part of Kongskilde's strengthened label offering is the application knowledge behind it.

Thomas Thor, whose family helped pioneer dedicated label waste handling solutions through Matho, continues to play a central role within Kongskilde Industries. In addition to his commercial leadership responsibilities in the DACH region, he supports Kongskilde sales teams globally with label-industry applications, best practices and continued product development.
