Sun Chemical upgrades SolarFlex
UV flexo inks meet German and Swiss ink ordinance requirements.
Sun Chemical has launched its next-generation SolarFlex FSP UV flexo ink range, which meets or surpasses the requirements of the German Ink Ordinance (GIO) and the Swiss Ink Ordinance (SIO), for label and packaging manufacturers preparing for upcoming regulation.
The upgraded formulation uses selected raw materials and low migration performance, and is suitable for labels, sleeves and packaging. It offers low odor, low viscosity and fast curing to meet high print speed requirements, and is designed to minimize the risk of migration, flavor transfer and odor contamination.
The range comes in standard and intense four-color expanded color gamut process inks and high-strength mono-pigmented blending colors, giving converters flexibility across a broad spectrum of brand colors and packaging requirements.
The inks have been through trials and validation at key label and packaging customers across Europe, including migration testing and odor assessments at printing speeds above 200 m/min. Sun Chemical says this confirms high-speed production capability while meeting compliance requirements for the upcoming GIO and other regulations and guidelines.
'Packaging regulations continue to evolve across Europe, creating new challenges for manufacturers and brand owners. Our next-generation SolarFlex FSP inks have been developed to help customers remain compliant without compromising performance and output. The upgraded formulation fully meets increasingly strict regulations and enables packaging manufacturers and brand owners to achieve their sustainability objectives,' said Jonathan Sexton, product manager, energy curing at Sun Chemical.
