Comexi installs 30 Offset CI presses by 2025

Since its commercial launch in 2015, the Comexi Offset CI Evolution has sold 30 units worldwide by 2025. 

This technology provides high resolution through a 100 percent solvent-free process without compromising operational costs. 

With this milestone, Comexi consolidates its position as the only manufacturer in the flexible packaging industry to offer the three main printing technologies: flexo, offset, and digital, the company reported. This unique ‘triple-threat’ portfolio allows Comexi to provide an unbiased, consultative approach, ensuring every converter finds the exact technology to match their specific production needs. 

The company recognized that offset technology is a clear and growing market trend and has significantly reinforced its internal structure to provide comprehensive support for all offset projects and services. This investment ensures that the company can meet the rising global demand with dedicated expertise, from initial installation to long-term technical service. 

The technology is gaining rapid momentum globally. The company installed 30 units, including four recent repeat orders, two of which occurred last year.

Today, users are leveraging this technology to produce a diverse range of products, including flexible packaging like pouches, sachets, wrapping, and lidding; and labels such as shrink sleeves, wrap-around labels, and in-mold labeling (IML). 

The latest Evolution model introduces a high level of automation designed to maximize uptime and profitability. It offers highly automated systems that drastically reduce setup times between jobs. Streamlined processes reach color targets quicker, significantly reducing substrate waste. The system ensures color stability and register accuracy throughout the entire production run. 

As industries face mounting pressure to reduce their carbon footprint, the Comexi Offset CI Evolution utilizes VOC- free Electron-Beam (EB) curing technology. By eliminating heat application, it significantly reduces energy consumption compared to conventional thermal drying systems. 

Since no heat is applied to the substrates, it allows for printing even the thinnest PE or PP films with perfect register at higher speeds. This is ideal for mono-material recyclable structures, which are increasingly demanded to align with the new PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) requirements. 

EB inks and coatings can be sourced by multiple suppliers worldwide. Because they contain no explosive solvents, they are easier and safer to transport. These inks feature 100 percent solid content, meaning they require lower consumption to achieve the same high-quality results as solvent-based alternatives. By utilizing affordable, recyclable aluminium offset plates, the machine offers the lowest pre-press costs in its category, making high-quality output accessible for both short runs and large-scale operations, according to the company.
