Koenig & Bauer launches comprehensive AI training program

Koenig & Bauer has launched AI Empower 25, a comprehensive artificial intelligence program designed to integrate AI technologies across its operations while training employees to become AI experts through a partnership with Google.

The globally leading printing press manufacturer will provide its workforce with advanced AI tools, including the Gemini App, Gemini Advanced for Workspace, NotebookLM Plus for knowledge tasks based on internal company documents and Google Vids for AI-supported video creation. The program focuses on empowering employees through targeted training rather than simply deploying technology.

'With AI Empower 25, we are once again demonstrating our pioneering spirit,' said Dr Stephen Kimmich, chief executive officer of Koenig & Bauer. 'We are convinced that the successful integration of artificial intelligence not only increases efficiency and productivity but also sustainably strengthens our company's innovative power.'

The program adopts a decentralized training approach under the motto 'The Power Is You!' Executives and selected AI Champions from around the world will receive intensive training and act as multipliers for their colleagues. While specific training is initially reserved for AI Champions, all employees have immediate access to AI tools, allowing them to gain early experience.

Koenig & Bauer plans to present an AI Award in December to honor creative use of the new tools and the development of workplace improvements. The company will also expand training opportunities to ensure broad acceptance and utilization across the organization.

The initiative complements Koenig & Bauer Kyana, a business unit spun off from the group's digital unit on April 1, 2025, which focuses on developing AI and data-based applications for customers in the print and packaging industry. The unit's portfolio includes established products like Kyana Assist and Kyana Data for production analysis.
