Lintec debuts sustainable label materials

The company showcases eco-friendly innovations, including removable chilled labels.

Lintec has introduced its latest portfolio of sustainable label materials and proprietary technologies at Labelexpo Europe 2025, marking the company's European debut of eco-friendly innovations. These include 'Re Chill', a removable label material for chilled applications, and a liner-less label featuring water-activated adhesive.

Launched in March 2025, 'Re Chill' represents the removable version of Lintec's hot-melt adhesive label material 'Chill At'. The product can be applied at temperatures as low as minus 5°C and adheres reliably even to challenging surfaces such as condensation or oil. With the ability to be applied and removed multiple times, the label supports recycling by ensuring easy detachment after use.

Both the adhesive and face material are composed of substances listed in Japan's Positive List under the Food Sanitation Act, while the adhesive complies with US FDA 21 CFR Section 175.105 for food contact. The hot-melt coating process eliminates the need for organic solvents and drying stages, significantly reducing CO2 emissions during production.

The company also highlighted a liner-less sealing tape that uses water-activated adhesive applied directly to the base material. By combining product or shipping information with the sealing function, this innovation reduces label consumption and eliminates liner waste. Additional advantages include minimal adhesive residue upon removal, secure detachment of address details to safeguard personal data and opportunities for brand enhancement through printed logos or customized designs.

Live demonstrations with a dedicated printer are being conducted at the booth. Lintec is also featuring related medical and pharmaceutical applications from its group company Mactac, including skin-contact tapes.

The Japanese company is highlighting label materials made from recycled PET resin sourced from post-consumer PET bottles, as well as mono-material labels designed to match PET containers, facilitating recyclability. Other exhibits include label stocks featuring solvent-free release liners, underscoring Lintec's technological strength and commitment to sustainability.
