Thanks to its latest investment, the company based in Niedernhausen, near Frankfurt, is looking to meet increasingly tight deadlines and accommodate the increase in demand for short runs.

The new press, installed at Oschatz Visuelle Medien, is a hybrid configuration, including a flexo print unit, cold foiling, highly automated semi-rotary die-cutting, and the 5-color (CMYK+W) digital print unit.

‘We have always valued our strong partnership with Canon, which convinced us to extend our alliance into other markets. With our current fleet, we print in various techniques onto a wide range of materials, from point-of-sale visuals to artistic prints,’ commented Joel Oschatz, CEO of Oschatz Visuelle Medien. ‘LabelStream’s large application versatility, printing from self-adhesives to carton board, variable data printing capabilities, and enlarged color gamut will further support and broaden Oschatz’s flexible offering for a wide range of print services, meeting the demands for a higher frequency of short-run jobs, while accurately matching brand colors over a production run.’

Crit Driessen, VP and head of digital packaging at Canon Production Printing, added: ‘We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Oschatz Visuelle Medien with the newly installed LabelStream 4000 series. It is an important step for Canon towards a leading position in the label and packaging segment. We look forward to working together with Oschatz and to help this impressive and innovative company to continue to thrive.’

The new Canon LabelStream can achieve an output speed of 1,845 sqm an hour, at 410 mm print width and production speed of up to 75 m/min. It can also reduce turnaround time thanks to its in-line finishing and embellishment capabilities. Turnaround times can be further reduced while delivering high-quality output.

Canon’s LabelStream is the first digital press awarded the Fogra Process Standard Digital (PSD) Print Check specification, confirming color consistency, uniformity, detail sharpness, and print runs stability. It enables the optional use of the white inkjet channel, achieving ink opacity of up to 80 percent and the possible extension with an orange channel.
